DOA: First off, thanks for taking the time out to chat with us. We’ve seen you progress on our forums, and to hear of your forthcoming releases, it’s great to see a success story rise. OK so you represent Venezuela, right? How did you get into DnB out there? Is the DnB scene in Venezuela vibrant?
Zardonic: Well, first off then, thank you for your time and interest. DogsOnAcid still has to be one of the most (if not the most) regarded Drum & Bass forums on the internet. And yes, that’s right, Venezuelan and proud here!
I remember back in the days when I was strictly into black metal and death metal, but eventually always had a certain interest for electronic music in general, however dance music was never appealing to me because I thought that most of the stuff that came out was just not what I was looking for. And then I was introduced into Drum & Bass with stuff like Congo Natty or DJ Zinc. The beat was there, but there was always something missing. Then my ears were blessed with Dieselboy‘s The Dungeonmaster’s Guide and all hell broke loose. I became a melomaniac about Drum & Bass and realized there was a huge scene going on in Venezuela that began back in around 1999, probably before, and I can say we still have a very healthy scene going on. Obviously there’s never much money but we’re definitively on the map as of today thanks to a lot of people working hard for it like Carl Matthes, with his Araguaney Sessions show on Bassdrive Radio, or DJ Pishi, founder of the South Embassy crew.
